A: Try asking yourself this two-part question.
First, ask yourself, “Is this action serving my goal?”
We’ve all caught ourselves doing something that clearly wasn’t serving our goal. It’s normal, even if it isn’t always helpful.
Next, ask yourself, “Is there something I could be doing instead that would?”
It sounds simple. And it is. But it’s also surprisingly easy to fool ourselves. We feel busy. We are busy. We’re always doing something. Surely we must be working hard towards our goal, right?
Not necessarily. It’s entirely possible to be doing a lot of high-achieving-looking things that are actually avoidant, or even self-sabotaging. And it’s one of the hardest things to see in ourselves.
That two-part question is a quiet but powerful habit. Try keeping it in your back pocket.
